A Novel Analytical Method for Evaluating the Characteristics of Hydraulic Jump at a Positive Step

We present a new method to evaluate the hydraulic jump characteristics in horizontal rectangular channel with positive step. considered flow curvature effect and free surface’s small rise at A-type jump’s end. First, we novel give length estimation based on similarity of turbulent wall-jet, considering pressure gradient. Then, as curvilinear using one-dimensional momentum equation, an accurate expression for conjugate depth regarding initial Froude number step height. Finally, compute energy dissipation rate. Compared theoretical models jump, proposed equation this study fit experimental data better, even high steps large numbers. However, low numbers (F1 < 5), was less estimating length. Regarding rate, results agreed well from previous investigations. it is noted that increased rate dwindled larger
